What’s special about Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2: price and all features

Samsung has announced a new foldable smartphone called Galaxy Z Fold 2. The phone is an upgrade to the Galaxy Z Fold. The new phone is much faster than its predecessor.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 specifications

The phone features a 7.6-inch full-HD+ AMOLED Infinity-O display with a resolution of 1,768×2,208 pixels. It also has a cover screen of a 6.2-inch resolution of 816×2,260 pixels and a 25:9 aspect ratio. The cover screen can be used to do multiple tasks such as taking pictures, replying messages, and viewing content.

It is driven by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ SoC, coupled with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The storage can be further expandable up to a microSD card.

In terms of optics and camera, the phone comes with a triple rear camera setup comprises of a 12-megapixel sensor with an f/1.8 lens and an optical image stabilization (OIS) support. The phone also supports a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor with an f/2.2 lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto sensor with an f/2.4 lens. If we talk about the selfie camera, then the phone comes with a 10-megapixel sensor at the cover screen as well as the main screen.

The phone packs a 4,500mAh battery and runs Android 10 with Samsung’s OneUI 2.0 skin on top. The battery also supports super-fast charging. Connectivity on the phone includes Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 6, 5G, 4G LTE, UWB (Ultra Wide Band), and a USB Type-C port.

Galaxy Z Fold 2 back design

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is priced at $1,999 (~Rs. 1,50,000) for the base variant. The phone will be made available in two different colors–Mystic Black and Mystic Bronze starting September 18. There is also a special Thome Browne Edition that will go for sale starting September 25. It is already up for pre-order. The Thome Brown Edition will come with Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Watch 3, Galaxy Buds Live, and other accessories.

Samsung is also offering customers to customize the hinges of the phone in four different colors–Metallic Silver, Metallic Red, Metallic Blue, and Metallic Gold.

The company is yet to announce the availability and price details for the Indian market.
